Volunteers Needed For This Weekend...

Now if you are free during this weekend. You might be interested to volunteer yourself for a good cause for this event organised by Singapore Disability Sports Council. The event would be held from 20th - 22nd July 2007 (Friday to Sunday), 9.00 am to 6.00pm.

Time : 9.00am to 6.00pm (Volunteers to report at 7.30am)
Location : Jurong East Sports Complex

Event Program : The Singapore Boccia Open Invitational 2007 will be here from 20th till 22nd July 2007 (Friday till Sunday). This is the first Boccia Open Invitational in Singapore and will boast of participation from Hongkong, Japan and Malaysia against our Singaporean players.

The Singapore Disability Sports Council will like to seek your assistance for this Singapore Boccia Open Invitational 2007 tournament. Prior to this tournament, a 3-day Boccia workshop will be conducted as well.

We will like to seek the assistance of:
1. 40 volunteers to help out in the various operational aspects during the 3-day tournament (20th – 22nd July);
2. 5 volunteers for the 3-day workshop (17th – 19th July).


The following are a brief description of volunteer duties. A pre-event briefing will be held a week before the tournament to inform you of your roles. The briefing will be held after office hours for your convenience.


General Description of Duties
1. Administration - Setup registration counter, register guests, distribute collaterals, conduct surveys
2. Operations - Setup signboards and ushering
3. F&B - Prepare lunch packages and arrange them neatly into plastic bags
4. Competition Stewards - Line up the athletes to be ready for their event at the waiting area.
5. Results Stewards - Runner between the technical officials and results table, update of results on board for public viewing
6. Technical - Record scores, fill in record sheets, assist disabled athletes if required

This is a good time for you to learn more about disability sports, and how people with disabilities overcome challenges to achieve their aspirations. Not only that, you can make many new friends during the event, and gain experience in organising events for the disabled. Training and guidance are always available from their friendly staff, so you are most welcome to ask questions when in doubt.
