Some of you may think that I`m working in a bloody posh office. Well unfortunately I`m not. I`m working at the site office.





See those white containers? One of them belongs to my company. It may look rather primitive but actually our office is well equipped. We got a pantry, sample rooms, one dumb plotter, 8 printers/fax/scanning machines, and brand new computers with corrupted softwares, etc; Emaar`s site office is located somewhere near the two towers on the right. Joe is working there and perhaps Aishah would be going to that office too when she arrives here in October. Another possibility is that their team would be working at Emaar`s main office in Jebel Ali which is located in the middle of nowhere. It`s about 30 minutes drive from the site office itself.Jebel Ali would soon be Dubai`s version of Beverly Hills but they named it as Emirates Hills instead. Currently the area is surrounded by sand dunes but from the main office, they could see the Burj Al Arab on clear days. Which is also near to 3 biggest man-made residential island in the world the Palm Jumeira, The Palm Jebel Ali and The World ( those interested with The World project could log into www.theworld.ae ) The Palm Deira is an upcoming project which would be bigger than the 3 previous island is still on the planning scale. From Emaar`s office in Jebel Ali, the staff could drive up to currently the world`s biggest mall which is The Mall of Emirates ( our mall will take over them soon). This mall is better than our mall cos they got this HUGE part of the building tilt at angle and inside it they got a ski slope (Just imagine the stern of the Titanic sinking, that`s how the building rougly looks like, about 100m by 50m of the building is tilt at angle to create the slope. So literally the building suspends in the air ) and of cos they have other amenities like hotels, residential apartment etc, but their shopping mall still look futuristic to me. Imagine a ski slope in the middle of the desert, how funky can that be.





That`s me, looked fucked up as ever.





That`s my room mate Joe. He loves to experiment new dish. Usually he and Andhie will cook for dinner.





One of my apartment mate Andhie. He designs the façade of The Dubai Mall. He luvs to tok crap despite being a serious person in the office.





Charles Wee another of my apartment mates. He is a freak. Well he is a freak in a good way. He is a Filipino by the way. He lovesss eating cereals, oats, grains well basically all food which onli donkeys or horses eat. Charles is now back in Singapore, he was asked told to go back with only 6 hours notice. He was in the office one fine morning and he was told to go back Singapore during his lunch time. So he has no choice but to leave for Singapore that same day at night. One thing most of us dread working for DP Architects is that, they always issue last minute stuffs. They could send u off anywhere, anytime as long they get the job done.





This is Kok Siang another apartment mate. He is helping Andhie. He may look young but he is married with a kid, and his wife who is working in the same company would be coming over in December with their kid. Kok Siang has just moved out from the aparment, he is now staying at The Greens in Jebel Ali.

This is my container office. We just moved in last month











Whenever I look out of the window, I would see this. This happen right across from my window. So it`s very easy for me to do site inspection, all I have to do is just look out. The construction is going on for 24 hrs, but because its summer now, the government has instruct the workers to stop working from 12 noon to 4pm. And yes Dubai has 4 seasons currently its summer now.
